Overview
Montessori Rough & Smooth Touch Boards is a core Montessori Sensorial material designed to refine and isolate a specific sense, supporting deeper cognitive development. This set of 3 sandpaper boards helps develop tactile senses, hand control for writing, finger coordination, and texture identification.
This is an Authentic Genuine Montessori material, it is a teaching aid, not a "Montessori toy".
This set of 3 rectangular sandpaper boards is used in the support of the tactile sense and helps with hand control for writing.
The first board is divided into two halves and introduces the contrast of rough and smooth.
The second board is divided into 10 strips, 5 polished and 5 sandpaper. This set helps to coordinate finger movement and helps to maintain dexterity.
The third board is divided into 10 strips varying in texture so that gradations from fine to coarse can be identified.
This set can be used with a carer supporting the user when needed to remind them of names or help them identify some of the more challenging texture differences; it can also be used individually or with another person to encourage social interaction.
