Overview

This language activity supports early literacy and communication skills through hands-on practice. The Pink Reading Series is a comprehensive Montessori literacy curriculum that teaches word building and reading through objects and phonetic sounds. Additional materials are recommended for full benefit. Includes objects, boxes, word lists, phrases, sentences, and a book. Objects may vary from the product photo. Pink Reading Series with Objects

This is the first series in the Montessori literacy curriculum. This series provides the Child with an in-depth understanding of word building and reading. This language material activity explores sounds, letters, word building. Using the large movable alphabet, the Child learns vocabulary; phonetically sounding out the three letter words.

From the ‘I Spy’ sensory phonics game with objects only (the objects are sold separately), to the Pink Box 3-word suggestions; this activity builds in complexity. Picture and word cards, pink word lists, phrases and sentences and finally the Child’s first book, the Pink Book are all included in this set.

Pink Picture-Word Sheets and Cards: the objective requires the Child to match the words to the pictures on the A4 sheet.
5 x A4 control sheets with 8 images per sheet. Each sheet is in a plastic envelope for display.
The word cards are stored in a pocket on the plastic envelope while the child works with them.
Mystery Box: 1 x box with 10-word cards, folded in half.

Objects included:

A set of objects in boxes where all of the objects represent a 4- or 5- letter phonetic word. The Child sounds out the name of this object. Use these objects as tools to teach vocabulary.

In the Montessori literacy curriculum, children are taught to read phonetically. Beginning with the “I Spy Game”, the Child builds their vocabulary using objects specifically chosen for this game. Listening games encourage children to hear (and visualise) the letters making the sounds of the words. Repetition of these games trains little ears to identify the individual sound of the letter of the object selected for the I Spy game. The next step takes the Child to the objects for the pink series, used in conjunction with the pink series box 1.

These 21 objects form Pink Box 1 of the The Montessori Pink Reading Series. Used in conjunction with the large movable alphabet letters and the mat for the large movable alphabet, the Child learns to phonetically sound out each letter of the 3-letter phonetic word with a short vowel sound, i.e. consonant – vowel – consonant (or the CVC word). It does not take a lot for the Child to grab the initiative and start making their own words.

38 Cards with 3-letter phonetic words. 21 Words match the 21 objects, 17 additional words do not have matching objects. We printed these additional words for the convenience of the teacher to source her own objects.
These 3 boxes of objects are used in conjunction with the large movable alphabet and mat for the large movable alphabet. Together, they form Pink Box 1 in the Montessori Pink Reading Series. The Child selects an object. They phonetically sound out the name of the object and use the movable alphabet to build the word.

Use these 21 objects, together with the 27 words in Pink Box 3 of the Montessori Pink Reading Series and the large movable alphabet and mat for the large movable alphabet to build words.

Note: Objects supplied, may differ from the ones represented in the product photo; due to availability of individual objects; but there will always be 21 objects.
